MCF: Community Planning Session and A Holiday Performance

We are about to enter the non-stop schedule of holiday events. Since the next two dates for the Metanomics Community Forums are almost on top of Christmas and New Year’s Eve, I’m going to declare those dark dates and ask that you join us today at 12pm SLT to do a bit of planning work. Monday’s panel discussion on Metanomics featuring Larry John, Brian Kaihoi and Terry Beaubois talking with Rob Bloomfield about the strengths and weaknesses of Second Life and virtual environments inspired a lively stream of comments in the chat channel. Let’s gather and continue with this topic, and work to define the focus of our meetings for 2011.

This planning reflects continued work on the design of what we’ve termed the Metanomics Community Area, working to create a means for visitors to the Metanomics Studio to better understand just what it is that we do in-world, and where all the excitement resides. This reflects our efforts to be aware of resident’s interests, the Metanomics community’s pursuits and how to best share all of this far-ranging news.

Finally, we’d like to share news of a perfect event for the holiday season. Duo Appasionato performs regularly at the JenzZa’a beautiful open air performance space on Muse Isle Northwest. Tomorrow, December 17th at 2pm SLT, they’ll present a special program for the Metanomics Community and friends. Formal Holiday Attire is requested in honor of the artists and the exquisite setting.

Duo Appassionato possesses exceptional virtuoso ability and musical harmony rarely found in two instrmentalists of the same genre performing together. Both active solo performers of unsurpassed spirit and flair, the duo has a refreshing stage presence and often explores a repertoire that is rarely performed because of its unusually demanding nature. They project “ virtuosic devilry and imagination…” and their playing is “ stunning and incredibly well matched”. Their presence is a highlight to any recital or concert stage.

This past summer 2010, Young Reid was invited to perform with the best symphony orchestra of Sichuan,China as a soloist and was very warmly received. The concert was later called “ The Return of the Great Master”. Here is a stunning video posted at YouTube of that performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Np-8OPqWqJ8
