More on the MaMachinima International Festival:

The MMIF is an event for the celebration, promotion and education of machinima arts creation. Not a contest, no awards, but a way of sharing knowledge, experiences and fun. The MMIF was initiated by Dutch machinimatographer Chantal Harvey, aiming to create a community of machinimatographers around the world.

Lucas Braley

Hello,
My name is Lucas Braley. I’m a senior doing his Graduation Research project, looking at both the ethnography and production of no-budget film. Basically, I’m looking at what makes YouTube so special and why the people who make it big succeed. As my project, I applied all of the techniques that I learned to a YouTube channel I made and compared it to a channel I made that was older and had more time to develop, but didn’t use the techniques. The difference was about a ten-fold number of viewers (up to 200 views per video on the old one so far, up to 2000 on the new one).

I would like some feedback on my work. Both technical film suggestions as well as marketing strategy tips would be appreciated. If you have got any suggestions, please leave them here or email me. I really could use some help! My channel is:

http://www.youtube.com/user/fanb0yproductions

The marketing methods I’ve used:
Digg, Social Networking, Forums, in YouTube discussion, tagging, video response, generating a partner program for my channel and getting more well known filmmakers to favorite and feature my videos.

Thanks for your time!
Lucas
