10/15/2007 Fashion! included Raven Pennyfeather, who quit her job as a mortgage compliance officer to create a very successful line of Goth and Victorian clothing in Second Life; Nyla Cheeky, a real-life designer who is extending her brand by developing copies in Second Life. Jack Myers, a media analyst who weighs in on the challenges and opportunities of Raven and Nyla's efforts.

October 15th 2007 Metanomics held an event with three speakers: in-world fashion designer Raven Pennyfeather, real-world fashion designer Nyla Cheeky, and media commentator Jack Myers. Speaker Bio

Raven Pennyfeather is an artist with a lifelong fascination with fashion. Her brand RFyre involves ornate, gothic costuming and furniture. She sees Second Life as a means to creative expression, and a medium that is still in its infancy. With over 100 stores in Second Life she has been making a living creating fashion in the Metaverse for some time now. (Photo credit: The Secondlife Newspaper)

Jack Myers Jack Myers is editor and publisher of Jack Myers Media Business Report, www.JackMyers.com and www.MediaVillage.com, the online community for intelligent TV fans. He is also the author of Virtual Worlds: Rewiring Your Emotional Future, "a radically different type of book that both discusses the explosive impact that the proliferation of Virtual Worlds is having on culture, society and business today, and invites readers themselves to actually become contributors to the book, even sharing in future revenues and rights deals. Virtual Worlds and enhanced social networks allow people to explore and experience new universes, while expanding their emotional range and depth, changing the nature of communication, and creating different identities."

He was identified as one of the "1,000 Most Creative Individuals in the U.S" by Who's Really Who and is the recipient of the George Foster Peabody Award, won the Crystal Heart Award from the Heartland Film Festival, and has been nominated for both an Academy and Emmy Award. Myers has consulted with more than 200 leading media companies, agencies and major global marketers on media and marketing trends. The Myers Emotional Connections Research Studies, launched in 1999, have emerged as state-of-the art standards for measuring audiences' emotional connections with media. He is a Board Member of the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University, serves on the Dean's Advisory Board for the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development at New York University, is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and serves on the boards of several charitable organizations.
